Hirosaki Neputa is designated as an important intangible folk cultural property of Japan,
it is the festival that has the longest history in Neputa (Nebuta) which is held in Aomori Prefecture.
It is the first time that Neputa float appears in history in 1722.
There is a record that the fifth clan lord owner Shinsuke visited Neputa in the clan diary.
The Hirosaki Neputa Festival is held from August 1 to August 7 every year.
The parade takes place on Dotemachi street, is main street of city center from 1st to 4th Aug. and on station square on 5th and 6th Aug.
The last parade takes place at riverbed of Iwaki river on 7th.
