Seibi-en Garden is located in Hirakawa, next to Hirosaki and consists of a garden and a building named Seibi-kan.
Seibien is one of the most major gardens nationally designated in Meiji era (1868-1912) which exists three, and the others are Murin-an and Seifu-sou in Kyoto.
Seibi-kan is a blending of Japanese and Western styles building that was built for a view of the garden.
It is said that there is no example to the other in Japan.
The garden is Japanese circuit style one.
The house and garden became the inspiration for the art location in the anime film, Arrietty produced by Studio Ghibli.
