Seikan Tunnel was the world’s longest tunnel when the construction work of the tunnel completed.
At present, the tunnel is still second longest one.
Seikan Tunnel Museum is located near cape Tappi and exhibits data and materials of the construction work.
But highlight of the museum is cable car that used for transporting workers and removed soil in those days.
The cable car reaches station located in 140 meters below sea level.
You can stroll the gallery with guide and also see the exhibited construction machinery in the gallery.
Unfortunately, the guide can’t speak English and there’s few English signs and descriptions in the gallery.
But it’s worth a visit here!
The cable car departs nearly every 30 minutes from the museum and it takes about 45 minutes there and back.
